When to go to St Barts?

St Barts has two tourist seasons. Mid-December to mid-April is the high season, marked by an influx of visitors and a multitude of events and activities. This period is ideal for those wishing to take advantage of the island’s lively atmosphere. In contrast, from mid-April to mid-December is the off-season, offering a more peaceful setting for those who prefer to avoid the crowds.

However, it is advisable to avoid the cyclone season in September, as this is the month when tropical storms and cyclones are most likely to occur. What’s more, most establishments (stores, restaurants, sports activities…) are closed in September on St-Martin and St-Barth, limiting entertainment options.

How to go to St Barths ?

Without a doubt, flying is the most efficient way to reach St Barths. The Rémy de Haenen airport (SBH) welcomes commercial and charter flights from neighboring islands on a daily basis.

The main gateway: Saint-Martin

Most travelers pass through Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on Sint Maarten.

  • From the USA, you can choose from several airlines: American Airlines, Delta Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines.
  • From Europe, choose from : Air Caraïbes, Air France, Alitalia or KLM.

The final connection to St Barth

Once in Saint-Martin, two airlines provide a 10-minute shuttle service to St Barth: Winair, St Barth Executive & St Barth Commuter.

Other options exist from the French West Indies:

  • From Guadeloupe (PTP): St Barth Commuter and Air Antilles Express (50 minutes) From San Juan (Puerto Rico) and Antigua: Tradewind Aviation

By boat: An alternative by sea

If you prefer to take your time, or if you’re not comfortable flying, the ferry is an excellent option. Several ferries link Saint-Martin to St. Barth every day.

From Marigot (French part) : VOYAGER 3 DREAMLINER

Simpson Bay (Dutch part): THE EDGE

Philipsburg (Dutch part): GREAT BAY FERRY

Private options : For greater flexibility, you can also hire a private boat or dock your own sailboat or yacht in Gustavia harbor. Charter flights by helicopter or private jet are also available on request.

There are no buses or other public transport in Saint Barth. This means that for short distances and occasional trips, we recommend using cabs or renting a car. For example, the mini moke, a small, open, all-purpose 4×4, remains the most fun and practical means of transport.
